Max Verstappen believes that the knowledge that Red Bull won from a highly competitive Formula 1 season of 2024 could help him win a record fift driver world championship.
In November, the Dutch called for his fourth title in a row in Las Vegas and was only the fifth driver in the history of Formula 1 to achieve this performance.
But should he record his crown in the 75th anniversary of the year in 2025 – Verstappen would join an exclusive club by drawing with Michael Schumacher’s record of five championships in a row.
While Verstappen finally won the title in 2024 with 63 points from Lando Norris, it was Norris’ McLaren team that Red Bull robbed of a hat trick of constructor championships.
“If we as a team are competitive, we can certainly win it again,” said Verstappen on Tuesday during the start of the Formula -1 season 2025 in the London O2 Arena.
“We are very experienced and I think we showed that it was a little more difficult for us last year. We still maximized our results. And that is, I think the great strength of the team.”
But Verstappen said that the tests in Bahrain in Bahrain were difficult to assess the prospects of Red Bull before the opening of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 16.
“I don’t know where we are. I think nobody knows. And in a few weeks we will know.”
When asked whether the coming season would be particularly competitive, the 27-year-old Dutch added: “That would be nice, but it is impossible to answer at the moment, right?
“I haven’t driven my car, nobody saw the other cars, so they can speculate about it, but it is just a waste of energy to think about it. It is good for sport if it is exciting, but I don’t Don at the moment don’t know. “
Verstappen spoke to an event at which all 10 teams had gathered to start their new cars at the same venue for the first time that this happened in Formula 1 history.
“It is difficult to agree to most teams on which day of the week,” said Red Bull director Christian Horner. “To start all 10 teams here tonight, it was a great effort.”
“It is very a show for the fans,” added Horner.
“I think technically, they will learn too much because I doubt that there is a single car that will run in Bahrain,” he said.
